Socorro’s engineering program has been in existence since 2011. We are a “Certified” Project Lead The Way Campus which is a national STEM program that is always innovating the way we teach engineering to our students.

All teachers who teach Project Lead the Way Courses must go through a rigorous two week training out of town for each specific course taught. These training’s consist of the teachers going through the curriculum form top to bottom as would their students when they see it.

The current engineering course taught at Socorro High School consist of required courses and specialization courses. Required Courses are those of which students in our program must take. Specialization Courses are those of which a student may be interested in learning more about, and can chose to take one or more of them during their junior and/or senior year in high school.

Required Courses:

  1. Introduction to Engineering Design (1st year)
  2. Digital Electronics (2nd year)
  3. Principles of Engineering (3rd year
  4. Engineering Design and Development (4th year)

Specialization Courses:

  1. Aerospace Engineering (11th/12th)
  2. Civil Engineering and Architecture (11th/12th)
  3. Computer Science Principles (11th/12th)
